Dunext’s PowerHill at the Core: Energizing Poland's Largest Climbing Centre for Community Renewal
Rozbark, a former coal-mining district in Bytom, Poland, is now undergoing a remarkable renewal through an EU-funded initiative that harmonizes green technology with community-centered regeneration. At the heart of this transformation, Dunext has deployed a 660 kW/1505 kWh PowerHill commercial and industrial energy storage system, seamlessly integrated with an onsite solar carport. With the ability to transition between on-grid and off-grid modes in milliseconds, the PowerHill system offers stable and clean power to the expanding Club, one of Poland's largest climbing centers, along with its conference spaces, social areas, and assisted living facilities.
Challenge: Turning Energy into Community Value
A core challenge of Rozbark's EU-backed regeneration lies in powering its community revival. The closure of local mines left behind economic and social challenges, placing the Club in a pivotal role as a community anchor. To sustain its diverse operations from sports to social events, the project demanded an energy system that was not only resilient and cost-effective but also maximized the use of renewables, turning energy from an operational concern into a strategic asset for sustainable renewal.
PowerHill Solution: Synergistic Storage System for Energy Independence
Dunext delivered a comprehensive storage solution built on three pillars: intelligent solar utilization, uninterrupted power supply, and cost-effective scalability. The prefabricated PowerHill system, managed through the smart DuLink cloud platform, enhance both operational efficiency and economic returns, allowing the Club to focus fully on its community mission.
● Intelligent Solar Utilization to Maximize Self-Consumption
By storing surplus solar energy generated during the day for use after sundown, the PowerHill system drastically increases onsite consumption of renewable power. This daily energy cycle reduces grid dependency during peak tariff periods, cuts electricity costs, and generates savings that can be reallocated into club’s ecological, cultural, and intergenerational activities.
● Reliable Power Supply with Seamless On-Grid and Off-Grid Transition
The PCC automatic transfer switch ensures uninterrupted millisecond-level switching between grid-connected and off-grid modes, securing continuous power for critical loads, including the climbing center, gym lighting, social zones, and assisted living apartments even during grid outages.
● Cost-Effective Scalability from Deployment to Long-Term Operation
The modular design of PowerHill system enables plug-and-play installation and flexible capacity expansion, effectively lowering upfront investment while adapting to evolving energy demands. Supported by the DuLink cloud platform, the system utilizes real-time monitoring, AI-driven predictive maintenance, and remote diagnostics to ensure reliable performance, improve operational safety, and reduce long-term maintenance costs.
Dunext’s team noted: "We installed not just batteries, but energy autonomy. This empowers communities like this club to operate with resilience and redirect their resources toward what truly matters."
A Replicable Blueprint for Green Urban Transition
This initiative demonstrates how energy storage can serve as critical infrastructure in urban renewal, strengthening a community organization's energy stability while establishing a replicable model for sustainable transition. Moving Forward, Dunext will continue to advance its C&I storage solutions to support more cities and post-industrial areas in achieving greener, self-sufficient futures.
